Aptech announces Quarter 3 (Jul - Sept 2006) Results

Mumbai :
For the third quarter ending September 30, 2006, Aptech Limited the Global Learning Solutions Company, posted Global System-wide revenues of Rs. 322.15 crores, representing a 90% increase YoY. Net revenues for the quarter stood at Rs. 54.72 crores.

The company posted an Operating Profit (EBITDA) of Rs. 15.93 crores, representing a 162% YoY growth as compared to Rs. 6.09 crores in the corresponding quarter last year. The Profit After Tax stood at Rs. 10.66 crores.

The unaudited financial results were taken on record at a Board Meeting held in Mumbai.

Commenting on Aptech’s performance, Mr. Pramod Khera, CEO & MD – Aptech Ltd. said “Over the last 2 years Aptech has put into place a lot of initiatives for improving productivity and generating growth which are now yielding results. Our processes are automated and our focus on improved quality of delivery of education has enhanced the student satisfaction. Our new businesses of Learning Services & Corporate Training Solutions have added a lot of important clients and are showing good growth. Aptech’s Retail Business has witnessed a remarkable growth, showing 86 % increase over last year. We continue to grow at a scorching pace in China.’

Initiatives & Highlights of the Quarter:

Aptech’s flagship programme ACCP showed an impressive 90 % increase in enrollments compared to the same quarter last year.

Aptech opened up 20 new centres in China in this quarter, in the cities of Chengdu, Xian, & Wuhan and the Jiangsu & Shangdong Provinces, taking the total number of Aptech centres in China to 225. Aptech, which has trained over 2,00,000 students in China in the last five and a half years, added 121823 students in the first 9 months of 2006, showing an impressive increase of 202% in the enrollments from the corresponding period last year. Leading organizations like MOTOROLA, HUA WEI & TCL hired students from Aptech in China.

The revenue of the China Operations rose from 16.04 crores to 24.76 crores, showing an increase of 54%.

Aptech acquired 70% stake in of the Mumbai based Synergetics Information Technology Service India Pvt. Ltd. The company is engaged in high-end IT training vertical business. With this equity takeover, Synergetics shall become a subsidiary of Aptech Ltd. and the results for the quarter ending December 2006 of Aptech would reflect the business results of Synergetics.

Adds Mr. Khera ‘Aptech has greatly increased its thrust in the Corporate Training space. This acquisition will not only augment our efforts in this direction but also help us take another step in our vision to become a Global Learning Solutions Company.”

Arena Multimedia, Asia’s leader in Animation Training, signed up centres in Syria, Mongolia, Afghanistan and commenced operations for centres in Iran & Dubai.

Aptech’s move to make available its flagship program – ACCP (Aptech Certified Computer Professional) at select SSi Education Centres met with good success.

The recently acquired Avalon Aviation Academy signed up centres for expansion in Western India and forged alliances with Virgin Atlantic and IATA for running vendor certified programmes.

Aptech trained candidates from the prestigious NEC, Japan & Ministry of Education, Govt. of Maldives under its India Window Programme at Bangalore. Aptech has been training students from Korea, El Salvador, Madagascar, Mauritius, Bangladesh, South Africa, Nigeria etc. under this programme.

ATTEST, Aptech’s testing & certification arm, established 6 Dedicated Testing centres (DTCs) during this quarter and conducted over 3.6 lac tests year to date. ATTEST also has 38 Authorized Testing Centres (ATCs) across the country & is now authorized to conduct TOEFL tests thru its Testing centres, an initiative that has received encouraging response.

ATTEST & Aptech Learning Services, the customized learning content development arm of Aptech, were awarded the ISO 27001 Certification by the British Standards Institutions (BSI) during this quarter. The ISO 27001 certification provides our existing clients and prospects enhanced reliability and confidence.
