Avalon to offer Hospitality Management Courses Scotland’s Colleges International’s HND launched in India

Avalon Academy, the Aviation & Hospitality Training subsidiary of the Global Learning Solutions Company, Aptech Ltd, announced the launch of the ‘Higher National Diploma in Hospitality Management’ in affiliation with the Scotland’s Colleges International, a reputed consortium of Colleges in the UK.

Avalon is the extended campus for the consortium for this reputed hospitality program. Avalon has partnered with the consortium, of which a few colleges in UK viz. Perth College, Adam Smith College, Telford College & Dundee College, will execute the on campus elements of the course.

This announcement was made by Mr. Pramod Khera, CEO & MD, Aptech Ltd., Ms. Preeti Malik – Head, Avalon Aviation Academy , Ms. Christina Potter, Principal of the Dundee College, Mr. Rob Chell - International Director, Perth College & Mr. Ian Patrick - Project Head, Perth College.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Pramod Khera, CEO & MD, Aptech Ltd. said ‘The hospitality industry has been experiencing a boom time. The hospitality, tourism and leisure industry offers exciting, challenging and varied career opportunities. In fact, this has emerged as the world's fastest-growing, job-creating profession. It is a well known fact that Europe is the heart of expertise in the world of hospitality training. Avalon’s tie up for offering the HND in affiliation with the Scotland’s Colleges International, will provide an opportunity to Indian students to get an exposure to world class training in Hospitality Management and get a head start in this arena.

Ms. Christina Potter, Principal of Dundee College said “This is a very exciting opportunity for Scotland's Colleges. Hospitality and Tourism have been key industries in Scotland for many years and our colleges have much expertise in preparing students for employment in the industry. We are delighted to be working in partnership with Avalon Academy in order to give Indian students the opportunity to broaden their skills and experience in a way which will assist the booming tourism industry in India. At the same time, I am sure that those students coming from India to Scotland will add much to the educational and cultural experience of our own students. I am delighted to be involved”.

Mr. Rob Chell, International Director, Perth College said “It’s a great pleasure to be involved in the Avalon venture. This would benefit every concerned student in a particular manner. We look forward to welcoming the first batch of Indian students”.

The 24 month program will be delivered partly at Avalon centres in India and partly on Campus at Scotland. Students who proceed to the UK, will have a minimum of three months ‘On the Job’ Internship in any part of Europe in the hospitality industry.

Talking about the highlights of this program, Ms. Preeti Malik, Head - Avalon Academy said ‘All students completing this course will be eligible to apply for two years work visa in UK under the Post Study Work Scheme. Colleges of the Consortium will assist the students in the paper work.’

‘After the successful completion of the Hospitality Diploma, placements may be provided by the Consortium under the Post Study Work Scheme offering up to 2 years employment within the UK , or by Avalon in the hospitality sector globally. For the ones however, who fall short of clearance and have completed the initial course at Avalon, shall be entitled for placement services by Avalon.’ she added

The HND consists of core & optional units in which the requisite number of credits need to be earned. After completing the HND in Hospitality Management, a student would be eligible to apply for a direct entry to a University into the third year of a degree programme in Hospitality or any related field.

The students of the course would have the option to move into any of the four crucial areas of Hospitality viz. Food Production, Food and Beverages (F & B), Front Office Operations and Housekeeping.

The selection of the candidates, who need to have necessarily cleared Class XII to apply for this course, will be made on the basis of a written test followed by a comprehensive interview.
