Mumbai, June 21, 2006: Enhancing its palette of offerings, Aptech Limited, the Global Learning Solutions Company, has made a foray into the fast growing Aviation Training arena. Aptech has acquired the Pune based Avalon Aviation Academy to take this initiative ahead.


The company inaugurated a new centre at Andheri (W) in Mumbai today. Present at the event were Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Chairman – Aptech Ltd.; Mr. Pramod Khera, CEO & MD, Aptech Ltd.; Ms. Preeti Malik – Head of Avalon Aviation Academy and celebrity guests – Ms. Zeenat Aman, Ms. Diana Hayden & Ms. Sharon Prabhakar. These celebrities will be associated with the project as expert faculty.


The Academy provides training for the Aviation & Hospitality Industry for Cabin Crew, Ground Staff, Flight Dispatchers and various other areas related to Hospitality.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Chairman Aptech Limited said “Peter Drucker says ‘This is the century of skill-sets.’ India has the world’s youngest demographics. 23% of the incremental global working force over the next five years will be from India. The big challenge is to equip this young population with relevant skill-sets. India has set a scorching pace in the IT sector, and is now doing so in many other service verticals. The big challenge facing these industry verticals is trained manpower. As a Global Learning Services organization, Aptech aspires to provide training in more such verticals other than IT and Multimedia. Aviation and Hospitality vertical is at an inflection point. Aptech has adopted a partnership model to tap the opportunity in this vertical. Aptech intends to leverage its capabilities in Education and Training, and especially its sound franchising model to take Aviation and Hospitality training across the country.”


Mr. Pramod Khera, CEO & Managing Director, Aptech Ltd. added, “This initiative will leverage Aptech’s strengths, broaden our offerings, expand addressable markets and build additional competencies. With Aptech’s experience in Education & Training and a wide-spread presence in the country and internationally, we intend spreading Aviation & Hospitality training across the country. Aptech plans to take the Avalon Aviation Academy to the major Metros like Delhi, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Bangalore in the first phase and plans to establish 15 centres in 2006. The Academy already has two centres in Pune.”


Ms. Preeti Malik, Head of Avalon Aviation Academy emphasised on the quality and infrastructure that will differentiate Avalon Aviation Academy from competition. “Our courses have been developed with the help of industry professionals and will be endorsed by domestic and international experts. The training centres are fully equipped to provide the student a real-life exposure to job situations. We also have expert personalities on board to provide value additions in our training that will make the students productive from day one in their jobs and give them an edge over others.”
