Governor unveils Aptech Learner Management System

New Delhi:
Aptech Limited showcased the Aptech Learner Management System (LMS) software created jointly by Aptech and IIIT, Allahabad at an exhibition during the 80th Annual Meeting of the All Indian Universities Vice Chancellors Conference at Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad.

Prominent academician and Statesman, Dr. Kidwai of Haryana unveiled the LMS. Present on the occasion were Dr. M.D Tiwari, Director of IIIT, Allahabad and other senior dignitaries of the state. The LMS is a component of the complete integrated product Learning & Content Management System (LCMS) and is intended for delivery of elearning in university scenarios or academic environments.

Making this announcement at Allahabad, K. Raj, Senior Vice-President, Aptech Limited said, “I am delighted to unveil our Learner Management System software, which would not have been possible without the active support of IIIT-Allahabad. Aptech has pioneered web based education in the country with its education vertical, onlinevaristy.com and today takes a huge leap forward with the project to make an impact globally with this product. This software will create conducive web-based education environment in India and trigger the activity of large-scale production of digital content in the country.”

Leading education & training organization, Aptech Ltd. and the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A), have collaborated to develop a state-of-the-art software tool for use in Web-based education. This joint R&D project titled “Development of LCMS with an intelligent authoring tool ” is partially funded by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, as partial financial support under the Programme Aimed at Technological Self-Reliance (PASTER) scheme.

About LMS:

The primary objective of LMS is to assist the following in their activities in a simple way:

  • Academic administrators to administer and manage the academic system electronically ? Systems administrators to setup the system with minimal effort
  • Students to learn effectively with technology
  • Tutors to deliver content and instruction through technology and provide effective learning environments

All these functions can be performed with minimal training of a week or so. Following are the key features provided by the LMS:

  • Content Delivery and Management (Course Content - SCORM 2004 Compliant, Assignments, Tests)
  • Tracking & Reporting
  • Student Workspace (Briefcase, Calendar, Discussion room, Digital Library, Messaging)
  • Teacher Workspace (Grading and Management, Mentoring, Assignment, Tests, FAQs, Scheduler)

  • Alerts and Notifications
  • Program/Course Catalogue
  • Student Registration and Admission
